ACTION PLAN

Laptop Management
In our school (IS 218) I let the teachers take ownership of the management of the laptop movement. Some "teams" move the carts and others let the students take the laptops from class to class.

The laptops do not move to lunch or gym. Most teachers freely give up a few minutes of their time to allow students to store their laptops. (Their idea) We have had very few problems with scheduling. I think this is because each team has been given the freedom to develop their own plan.

Coaches Schedules/Responsibilities
I spend most of my time giving support to teachers that are having issues (either hardware or software).
Typically they are smartboard, printing and internet issues.

Currently I am not spending much time with student laptop problems. It's still early in the year. This takes up more of my time after December, when students have been using them for a few months.

I push-in to classes and support instruction when I can. Usually this is informal. At times a teacher will request my presence during a particular lesson. I spend about 5 - 10 periods a week working one on one with teachers.

I am going to implement a tech support request form to assist in managing my time and keep track of issues. Also I will use googledocs to set up a PD tracking spreadsheet to track one on one time with teachers.

Student Support Teams
iSquad members are selected by their teachers (teachers are given a form asking for 4 students that they would reccommend). The students are then approved by me. We have about 20 members.

Each homeroom teacher selects 2-4 monitors that are responsible for giving out laptops and moving carts, if necessary.

iSquad meets during their lunch period(s). The iSquad is responsible for troubleshooting minor laptop/smartboard issues. I find that the students in iSquad become very empowered by their knowledge and responsibilities. They have become the go-to people in the building and many are able to completely act independently.

I plan to give them further training to make them more effective.

Families: Informing about 21st Century Schools and Cyber Safety
We have not considered this in the past. I think this is a necessary component to the 1:1 environment. I think we invite parents on a Saturday or perhaps before/during parent/teacher night (or an Open House)

Evaluating Classroom Instruction

Planning for Technology-Infused Instruction
We are beginning to use Renzulli Learning in the classroom to assist in differentiating instruction. We also use Acquity in the classroom and we have seen test scores go up for those classes who were involved.

We have cameras for each team and video cameras available for making multimedia presentations.

School Transformation Toolkit

Sharing Documents
We are rolling out eChalk in the school and I think we could use this to share docs.
All teachers have access to the school server and share materials thru that service including lesson plans, test prep (Kaplan) and best practices.
